Our Kirkland remodel project is in the works. In order to keep the exterior look of the home cohesive and modern, the exterior has a mid-century inspired aesthetic. Dark colors give the house a chic style and an uncomplicated feel. Happy Mood Board Monday!

Mid Century Modern or Just Modern?

Sometimes I find remodels to mid-century homes a little too referential. This Utah home seems to strike a pretty nice balance between respect for the old and incorporation of the new modern. It really is a lovely house... and may still be for sale. To me, the $599K price tag seems too good to be true!

Dining Chairs

While there is nothing really wrong with the IKEA dining chairs I've currently got, I'd love to replace them with a lovely set of mid-century chairs. I like more modern chairs, too... but the great thing about mid-century design is that it tends to be more compact, which we really need in our teeny home.

Invigorating

Ok... just to warn you, I've got a ton of photos of the Venice Biennale (some of them are labeled, more are not). If you ever have a chance to visit, I would highly recommend it... Especially, if you are like me, and feeling a bit jaded by work. The Biennale was so invigorating and refreshing, and really reminded me of all the things I love about architecture... Oh, and I saw David Adjaye. But, don't worry... I didn't run up to him like a groupie or anything!
