Cabin GJ-9

June 19, 2012

Today I'm really digging the GJ-9 Cabin in Bjergøy, Norway by Gudmundur Jonsson. The modern aesthetic and the use of glass, stone and wood are really beautiful. I especially like how the wood soffit material carries through from the exterior to the interior ceiling. This really helps create a strong connection from the interior to the site and wonderful views of the fjord. About a year ago I traveled around Norway and spent some time in Oslo. The environment of southern Norway is very similar to the pacific northwest which makes it easy to find inspiration there for the design work we do here in Seattle. I look forward to using some of these techniques to create connections to our gorgeous surroundings and hopefully some of the beautiful views of the Puget sound.
