pool shophouse

The shophouse is a traditional architectural building type common in parts of Southeast Asia, characterized by a narrow terraced house for live and work built in contiguous blocks with common party walls. I really like how FARM and KD Architects shophouse renovation in Singapore emphasizes the sectional qualities of the building type, making the circualtion central to the experience to create a fluid interconnection between spaces. It is also interesting how the track lights are used to create a sense of separation between the existing brick and the new 'inserted' elements. Read more about the project here.

I love how the lighting was designed so there are no direct lights and it's all indirect wall washers.
