A friend emailed me this link... if you've ever had to wade through the MEEB book (its pretty much a requirement for most architecture students), then this is too funny.
-to the non-architects... I apologize if you can't see the hilarity!
I am loving this photo of a Cuban hospital by G Michael Reilly. The colors are lovely, and they really help accentuate the form. Such a simple structure... its really quite striking. If only more hospitals were as delightful as this, we might all get better faster!
Julio Barreno emailed me this project he recently completed in the south of Spain. Its a storage facility for canoes, but looks to include more than just storage. The very simple and clean structure fits great in the stark countryside...I'd love to see the building in action!
In a coordinated effort between my company and my blog, I'm starting a new design club e-newsletter. The monthly newsletter will likely include popular posts from the blog, but it will also include design features and stories not posted on this blog. So... if you'd like to be included on the list, just sign up on the form located on the upper left corner of the blog's main page.
.
Also, when you join... you will be sent an email asking you to confirm that you'd like to receive the newsletter. Please be sure to click on YES (at the bottom of the email) otherwise you will miss out on the newsletter.
Crafted by artisans in India, each ribbon coat rack is unique. The powder coated piece by Headsprung would be a fun and colorful accent for an entry hall.
Fredrik Färg scavenges the bones from old furniture and tailors a new dress to them. The results are equisite and timeless... I'd love a few for my parlor (that is...if I had a parlor!)
These retail interiors by HPG are quite lovely... posh without being overly so. The furniture is oversized without making you feel as though you've fallen into Alice's wonderland... and both lighting and furniture placement have created a gallery type focus for the items being sold (just as it should be in a retail space).
These little gems by well known Swedish firms Kjellander + SjöbergArkitektkontor, SandellsandbergArkitekter and Tham & VidegardHanssonArkitekter are being sold by Sommarnojenand can be used as full time mini homes or part time vacation homes. The simple designs are quite lovely, and the choice of materials is very Swedish. Unfortunately, I can't tell you much more about them as I can't read Swedish!
These caught my in part because they are so lovely, and in part because a friend of mine and I are currently working on some plans for small homes... If we can produce something half as lovely as these, I'll be happy.
The juxtaposition of materials in Patrick Weder's work is really sweet... Walnut and Corian. Concrete and Moss. The simple forms atrickWeder'samplify the contrast between materials.
.
I think the use of corian is interesting... I feel like I've been seeing quite a bit of corian in furniture lately...
