Bullit Lights and Camel Graffiti

June 12, 2008

While art for beauty's sake can have its place... art is truly most effective as a form of commentary, whether it be social or political. Even when artists create seemingly innocuous artwork, if the art is intended to make us think differently, then it succeeds as a kind of commentary. Above are two examples of artwork in Beirut, Lebanon - a simple piece of graffiti combining different ideologies/technologies and a bullit light installation that turns a bullit ridden building into a sliver of peaceful nighttime sky.
