25 November 2007
I found Posie et Verite's flicker photos through a post on 2 or 3 things. Like L Cerre, I am particularly drawn to these photos of a Namibian ghost town. Taken over by the winds and sands, the eroding structures can only partially contain the moving landscape. I just love the colors and dynamic energy of these photos... and its not just these photos. Posie has an enormous flicker set, which would be easy to spend hours poring over each and every beautiful photo..

13 November 2007
C & I have recently begun to plan a trip to Italy, and now that's all I can think about! Some of the things that I've been getting into are (in no particular order):
Fashion

History

A return to my catholic roots

Museums

Art

And Food!

21 October 2007

I find these Balance Studies images by Spatial Interventions very intriguing. As designers and architects, we are constantly thinking in terms of balance, space, counterweights, etc.... The same sorts of things that these artists are investigating in their work.

I really love the foggy noir effects of these photos by Lars Venner. The blacks are so deep and rich, and the contrast so stark... yet the photos all have an eerie quality as if taken through a fog.Via Carbon Collective

15 July 2007
Cold War era Soviet Architecture is all the rage right now... and its easy to see why. The forms can be quite striking and formidable, and are often completely unrelated to other western architecture of that time. These photographs were taken by Frederic Chaubin (editor of Citizen K) who offers more information about the buildings themselves in an interview with Ping Mag.Via Sprayglue.

09 July 2007
While attending my cousin's wedding in Washington DC this past weekend, C & I managed to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing with my parents. We had a great time visiting the National Gallery and wandering around Georgetown. Its been a while since I visited DC, and I had forgotten what a fun city it can be... Below are some of the photos from our trip!

20 May 2007
C recently introduced me to Chris Jordan, a local artist who uses large scale photography as his medium for critique on American consumerism. I particularly like this image of a Tacoma chassis yard... It not only exemplifies current excess, but its an interesting contrasting image to those we typically see describing the Pacific Northwest. While this area is indeed lush and green with beautiful vistas of mountains and ocean, there also lies an undercurrent of industrial manufacturing and waste.Posted in Graphics, Ideological, Photography by Michelle Linden | 0 comments

18 May 2007
I was searching for another photo on my hard drive, and came across this photo I took last summer in Chicago. Affectionately known as the bean, the Cloud Gate at Millennium Park is one of the most used and most loved outdoor experiences in the city. While personally I think that the design is rather kitsch, the way it reflects the cityscape is indeed quite lovely.Posted in Favorite Buildings, Life, Photography, Trips, US by Michelle Linden | 1 comments

2Views is a new blog by two artists (one photographer and one mixed-media) who create two views on one subject. I particularly like these pods.
